Can you believe it? It must be because my entire family and I get sick to our stomachs every time some bishop or other makes statements about politicians receiving communion et al. Not all Catholics are of one mind. And Stone Ridge, certainly, has already been flagged on some message boards as one of the more "liberal" places. (I guess that goes with the order historically having been founded to be the female "version" or counterpart of the Jesuits...?)

I suppose in light of what you point out Georgetown Day does make sense - after all, it started as an integrated school in a segregated city - but oh...I can't help feeling a little alma mater pride and longing...T.https://www.blogger.com/profile/09208990104460795917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5628616877664827988.post-34939529035748651062008-11-12T17:58:00.000-05:002008-11-12T17:58:00.000-05:00Don't you think there'd be some discomfort (in sev...Don't you think there'd be some discomfort (in several ways) what with some Catholic bishops talking about how Biden shouldn't be allowed to take communion (and other similar issues with other politicians who support choice) and Obama's stated support of choice?

Were I a parent, I'd avoid sending my kid to a school that didn't reflect my values in important ways (and that would include choice, glbt rights, sexuality, and the equality of women, which is an issue with a church that doesn't practice female ordination).

(That's not to suggest that you didn't have a wonderful experience, of course, or that the school doesn't do a good job educating students. But some core Catholic values are at odds with the Obamas' stated values, and some important bishops in the Catholic church have made a public stand against the Obamas' stated values.)Bardiachttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11846065504793800266noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5628616877664827988.post-12718244510325317102008-11-11T10:31:00.000-05:002008-11-11T10:31:00.000-05:00Harvard was good too...LOL!BTW, any chance you kne...Harvard was good too...LOL!

BTW, any chance you knew Eugene Kim at Harvard?
