Celebrating Ether Day by getting vaccinated against H1N1. :)
If you're interested in this historic occasion, please read my Ether Day post from a couple of years ago. It still expresses how I feel about this anesthesia "holiday."
Wherein an adult student of oboe chronicles her adventures in music, medicine, and faith, and other stories... “Novelists, opera singers, even doctors, have in common the unique and marvelous experience of entering into the very skin of another human being. What can compare with it?” -Willa Cather

Ahh, how nostalgic -- I saw the real-life version of the above photo / painting just a few weeks ago! I recently did an medical student rotation in anesthesia at MGH, and spent a pleasant Sunday morning sitting in the high-backed chairs of the Ether Dome, just enjoying the warm bookish atmosphere of the place. I miss Boston. Happy Ether Day to you too!
Got my H1N1 jab 2 days before the post was written. But Happy Ether day!
I'd like to know where you found out that 10/16 is Ether day? I had no idea. I've added it to my Blackberry so I can celebrate it next year...in some form or fashion.
RAG - it's impossible to either train or practice anesthesia in the Boston area, with Mass General casting its august shadow over the city, without being exposed to Ether Day! If you're interested, I think someone wrote a whole book on the subject (author Julie M. Fenster, if memory serves)...
